Housing for the Homeless

More than 500 housing units in our buildings and apartments are reserved for people who were formerly homeless. These units include mental health housing, substance abuse housing and specialty housing (HIV/AIDS, ex-offenders, elderly with mental health and physical health diagnoses, and formerly homeless veterans). 

In response to the large number of homeless veterans who are also struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues, The Bridge has launched a veterans initiative in which 2 residential programs are currently in development:

Bridge Gardens Veterans Residence

This 17-unit building in the Bronx is currently in construction and will be opening in the spring of 2013. In addition to providing quality housing, Bridge staff will provide on-site support and case management so that residents are linked to appropriate services in the community.

 

Veterans Housing

Melrose Commons Veterans Residence

The 60-unit building to be constructed in the Bronx will house returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. This project will include a hydroponic greenhouse that will provide vocational opportunities for the residents.

Thanks to Board member Ron Cruikshank, The Bridge Group Artists will be having a new Art Show, entitled "Expressions" at The Gallery of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Hours:

  • M-F: 8am - 6pm (until 9pm on Tuesdays)
  • Sat.: 8am - 1pm
  • Sun.: 8am - 2:30 pm
