HOME (Helping Organize My Environment) Initiative

The HOME Initiative is dedicated to assisting adults in maintaining safe living environments by providing evidence-based support for residents facing clutter and hoarding issues.

Understanding the Challenge

For individuals struggling with hoarding, clutter accumulates, obstructing living spaces and leading to distress, increased risk of falls, isolation, and community hazards.

A Pioneering Approach

The Bridge is working with Professor Catherine Ayers from the University of California San Diego to pilot the CREST (Cognitive Rehabilitation and Exposure/Sorting Therapy) program in Bridge supportive housing. Developed by Dr. Ayers and her team, CREST is an evidence-based intervention targeting impairments in problem-solving, planning, and prioritizing associated with hoarding disorder.

Our Method

The HOME team provides nonjudgmental, clinical support to residents, guiding them through sorting, discarding, and reducing acquisition of items.

Innovation in Action

CREST is the only program worldwide dedicated to evidence-based treatment of hoarding disorder and has never before been implemented in supportive housing until The Bridge’s pilot program.

We're committed to transforming lives and environments through compassionate and effective support.
