The Bridge is proud to partner with the New York Road Runners for the TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 2, 2025! As a charity runner, you have the opportunity to directly support The Bridge’s mission to change lives by providing help, hope and opportunity to the most vulnerable New Yorkers.

At the core of the mission for both The Bridge and the New York Road Runners (NYRR) is the belief that all people deserve the support and inspiration to work toward and embrace a happier and healthier life. Like the NYRR, The Bridge offers New Yorkers hope and opportunities to set, pursue, and achieve their goals; bringing mind, body, and soul to a better place.

About
The Bridge

The Bridge has over 70 years of experience serving the most vulnerable members of the New York City community. Many individuals receiving Bridge services face serious challenges in their lives such as homelessness, mental health and/or substance use challenges, histories of trauma, chronic health conditions, poverty, and criminal justice involvement.

To support clients in their recovery, The Bridge offers a comprehensive range of services, including behavioral and primary health services, supportive housing, community-based services, and alternative treatment modalities such as creative arts programming and horticultural therapy to over 4,200 New Yorkers annually. We operate more than 60 programs in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. Embracing the idea that trauma impacts everyone, we support clients as they build their own paths toward healing, growth, and stability.

Meet The Bridge's 2025 NYC Marathon Team

This year, three dedicated runners will represent The Bridge in the TCS New York City Marathon. Each of them is running not only to achieve a personal milestone, but also to advance The Bridge's mission of providing housing, mental health care, and vital support services to vulnerable New Yorkers.

Follow along to learn more about the personal journeys of Divine, Sophie, and Brian, as they gear up for November 2nd, and what motivates them through even the toughest miles.

Sophie Aziakou

As Chair of The Bridge's Junior Board's Nominating Committee, Sophie helps recruit new members passionate about mental health and housing. "I've met such thoughtful, driven, and compassionate individuals," she says. "It's energizing to be part of a community that's not just talking about impact but actively working toward it."

Running for The Bridge is deeply personal for Sophie. "I know firsthand how mental health care and housing can transform lives, and I believe everyone deserves dignity and stability."

For Sophie, running is grounding, a way to reconnect with herself. During the marathon, she'll be thinking about The Bridge's clients and the community that inspires her every day.

Brian Kim-Koutsis

For Brian, running began as a tool to clear his head, and quickly turned into a method for exploring new places, ideas, and challenges. "The NYC Marathon is the ultimate version of that," he says. "Seeing the city on foot, mile by mile."

Brian has seen close friends struggle with mental health and understands the importance of The Bridge's work. He believes that "care, community, and stable housing change everything." For him, "the mission is easy to run for."

To stay focused, Brian remembers long, laugh-filled runs with friends, the shared memories keeping him steady. As the miles begin to compound, he thinks about The Bridge community, that "gives every mile extra purpose."

You can still support The Bridge Team and fundraise for our mission even if you already have guaranteed entry to this year's race OR if you're just interested in supporting our programs. We encourage supporters to set a fundraising goal of $1,000 for The Bridge!

You are not held to a minimum fundraising commitment if you have your own entry or if you are not running on The Bridge Team.

Divine Ehidom

As a Care Coordinator at The Bridge, Divine walks alongside clients every day, helping them access care, navigate challenges, and rebuild their lives. He witnesses firsthand the perseverance of those overcoming homelessness and mental health challenges, resilience that inspires him to run the marathon.

"Running the marathon is a way for me to represent the strength of our clients and staff," Divine shares. "It's an honor to carry The Bridge's mission with me every mile."

For Divine, running is peace, clarity, and focus. When the race gets tough, he'll be thinking about the clients whose courage motivates him, his team, and family who all stand behind him.
